Earthquake rattles Cowboys camp (AP)
Leonard Davis rolled over to see if somebody was shaking his bed, but none of his Dallas Cowboys teammates were in the room. That’s when the 353-pound offensive lineman realized he had just experienced an earthquake. “I was just laying there, about to go to sleep,” said Davis, who like many of his teammates had never felt such a tremor.

Cowboys CB Newman out 3 weeks (AP)

Newman will miss at least three weeks of practice because of a significant groin injury, coach Wade Phillips said Tuesday.

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Terence Newman will miss at least three weeks of practice because of a groin injury, another early setback for the player coming off his first Pro Bowl season. Coach Wade Phillips said an MRI on Tuesday revealed a “significant” injury to Newman’s left groin. “We’re a little disappointed because he plays the nickel for us, he really needs working at it,” Phillips said.


Eagles‘ Clemons dehydrated, hospitalized (AP)
Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Clemons was released from a hospital where he was treated for dehydration Tuesday. Clemons was helped off the field at Lehigh University about two hours into the team’s Tuesday morning practice. He was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital in an ambulance, but never lost consciousness.

Saints, top pick Ellis agree to deal (AP)

Defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis, the New Orleans Saints‘ top draft pick last spring, ended his holdout Tuesday. Ellis, picked seventh overall out of Southern California, agreed to a five-year contract, said Saints general manager Mickey Loomis. “It’s about time,” said Loomis, who did not disclose financial details because of team policies.

When Julius Jones came to Seattle, the assumption was that the Seahawks signed him to be Shaun Alexander’s successor.

Steelers P Sepulveda likely out for year (AP)
Pittsburgh Steelers punter Daniel Sepulveda tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee for the second time in three years and is expected to miss the season. Sepulveda tore the ligament on the first day of practice Monday. The Steelers used undrafted rookie kicker Julian Rauch of Appalachian State as their practice punter Tuesday, but claimed former Broncos punter Paul Ernster on waivers…
